We are Machine Intelligence Group, and you may call us "MIG."
Our group is interested in building software systems that demonstrate intelligent behavior hopefully at comparable speeds of MIG fighter jets.
We focus on applications of artificial intelligence techniques, such as automatic reasoning, natural language processing, and machine learning, to the realization of computer-assisted learning systems, legal information systems, intelligent transportation systems, and decision support systems.
In addition to computer science and related fields, some previous MIG members have interdisciplinary expertise in Linguistics, Ecnonmics, Accounting, Geology, and Japanese. Moreover, we worked with researchers in Linguistics, Education, Psycholinguistics, Finance, Literary, and History in some previous work. We are conducting the following projects at this moment.

- [APTS99] We built an Internet service for providing connection information for the public transportation systems that serve the Taipei metropolitan area. This project was a collaboration with Professor Tun-Wen Pai and his students, Chun-Tien Chang, Po-Nien Chen, and Chih-Yao Yang, of the Department of Computer Science of the National Taiwan Ocean University. The resulting system, named IRIS, can be accessed via the Internet at http://iris.cs.ntou.edu.tw.
- [BN99] During the same period, Chao-Lin also worked on algorithms for computing the fastest path in a transportation networks, and the results were partially published in the Proceedings of the IEEE/JSAI/IEEJ International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems.
