Fareham Borough Council Rules on iSCSI SAN and NAS Storage Solution from FalconStor for Storage Consolidation and Disaster Recovery

FAREHAM, HAMPSHIRE, United Kingdom--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 9, 2004--FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC - News), a leading developer of network storage infrastructure software solutions, today announced that the Fareham Borough Council has selected IPStor for storage consolidation and disaster recovery. The move to SAN and NAS storage over iSCSI will supersede the direct attached storage associated with the Council's 40+ servers.
FalconStor teamed with RedStor, one of FalconStor's UK partners, to design a storage solution addressing the Council's needs. Key among the Council's requirements was guaranteed expandability for the next five years, with the capability to cope with a rapidly growing storage requirement in excess of 12 terabytes. RedStor will be implementing and maintaining all hardware and software components of the solution.

RedStor proposed a heterogeneous approach to avoid vendor lock-in and enable the Council to get the best from its various suppliers. The solution includes IPStor to deliver:
- a storage network infrastructure providing SAN and NAS access over iSCSI
- a suite of enterprise-class storage services including virtualization, storage consolidation, and data replication
- accelerated backup-enabling technology such as zero-impact backup and serverless backup.
