區塊鏈產業從 2008 年比特幣白皮書發佈開始,經歷了無數次事件的洗禮,技術的演進也未停下腳步,除了區塊鏈本身實作的程式語言從 C++、Golang 到 Rust,架構也從從單一實體的實作開始朝向模組化、多層架構。其中,區塊鏈中核心的共識演算法也從最初的 PoW 轉向 PoS,而要踏入區塊鏈世界的錢包與交易所相關技術,也各自成為產業中舉足輕重的角色。更不用說在區塊鏈上五花八門的應用服務,在在考驗著大家的創意與經驗。
而身處產業中六年多,除了技術的演進要追逐外,每一次同業的進展抑或是大大小小的駭客事件、以及政府監管等等…都可能導致幣價上衝下洗,除了影響著產業本身的發展外,也考驗著產業的韌性。而跟隨著產業的進展,新興的職位也愈臻成熟,其中,區塊鏈工程師這個職位最早可追朔至 2010 年。直至今日,這個神秘的職位究竟需要負責怎樣的內容呢?讓我們從歷史的事件中一起往回看,實際體會一下區塊鏈工程師在產業中的工作內容與挑戰吧!
Since the paper "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" was published in 2008, the blockchain industry has undergone countless events and continuous technological evolution. The programming languages used for blockchain implementation have progressed from C++ and Golang to Rust. At the same time, the architecture has shifted from a monolithic implementation to a more modular and multi-layered structure. A key blockchain component, the consensus algorithm, has evolved from the original Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS). Meanwhile, wallets and cryptocurrency exchanges—essential entry points into the blockchain world—have become critical pillars of the industry. Not to mention the diverse range of applications built on blockchain, which is constantly growing with creativity.
Having been in the industry for over six years, I have witnessed not only the rapid advancement of technology but also the creativity from the new business model, significant and minor hacking incidents, and government regulations—all of which can cause drastic fluctuations in cryptocurrency prices. These fluctuations influence the industry's growth and test its resilience. As the industry evolves, emerging roles are becoming more mature. One of the roles is the blockchain engineer, which has existed since 2010. Let's revisit historical events and explore blockchain engineers' work and challenges in this fast-moving crypto world!
