Article 1 :

The Regulations are drawn up pursuant to Ministry of Education Guidelines on the Review of Master's Programs Offered by Colleges and Universities and NCCU Guidelines for Graduate Degree Examinations.

Article 2 :

Persons who pass an examination given by NCCU to applicants for admission to an master's program shall be admitted to the Program.

Article 3:

The number of credits required for graduation and the maximum period of study permitted are as follows:
  1. All students shall graduate after having earned at least 36 credits, of which 12 are from required courses and 24 are from electives.
  2. The required courses are:
    1. Seminar 1 (taken in the 1st semester of the 1st academic year) and Seminar 2 (taken in the 2nd semester of the 1st academic year); one credit each.
    2. Research on Current Issues 1 (taken in the 1st semester of the 1st academic year), Research on Current Issues 2 (taken in the 2nd semester of the 1st academic year); two credits each.
    3. Thesis Research 1 (taken in the 1st semester of the 2nd academic year), Thesis Research 2 (taken in the 2nd semester of the 2nd academic year); three credits each.
  3. The number of years of study permitted are 2-5 years. Students may suspend their studies no more than twice for a maximum of one year each time.
  4. The credits earned from courses previously taken that were offered by the Department's master's program may count toward the number of credits required for graduation. A maximum of three credits earned from courses previously taken that were offered by graduate institutes or credit-based master's programs of other NCCU departments or of other colleges or universities may count toward the number of credits required for graduation. Only courses that were taken within five years prior to enrolling in the Program may be waived.

Article 4:

Students shall complete an advisor confirmation form before taking a "Research On Current Issues" course.Students shall complete an advisor confirmation form before taking a "Research On Current Issues" course.

Article 5:

Graduate students enrolled in this program shall select an advisor and thesis topic by the end of their first academic year and provide the information to NCCU at the designated time. In principle, the advisor and the "Research On Current Issues" instructor should be the same instructor. An additional application shall be submitted if they are not the same instructor. If a student changes advisors, an application shall be submitted. The advisor shall be changed only after obtaining the approval of the original advisor and the new advisor or from a meeting on the program.

Article 6:

After completing all the courses required by the program and obtaining the approval of the advisor, students may submit a thesis and apply for a degree examination. Matters not dealt with herein shall be handled as per "NCCU Guidelines for Graduate Degree Examinations."

Article 7:

The Regulations shall take effect after being approved at a meeting on programs and a department affairs meeting
